Kaufman Fire Marshal page says burn ban lifted: check current rules before burning

The county’s Fire Marshal page now displays Burn Ban Lifted. Our earlier active-ban post has been updated; the page does not establish the date the ban ended.

What to know
Status checked November 5, 2026. Confirm current conditions and applicable rules with the Fire Marshal before outdoor burning.

Kaufman County’s official Fire Marshal page displays a green Burn Ban Lifted banner when checked November 5, 2026. This changes the practical message for readers who saw our earlier Facebook notice saying a ban remained active.

Correction to our earlier notice

Our earlier post described a county Alert Center notice about a ban beginning August 11 for a 90-day period. The current Alert Center no longer lists that burn-ban notice among its active alerts. The Fire Marshal’s page now expressly says the ban is lifted. We have updated the older Facebook post so its headline no longer presents the ban as active.

The pages reviewed do not establish the lifting date or reproduce the order that ended the restriction. We are therefore not claiming that the change happened today or at any other particular time.

A lifted ban is not blanket permission

Do not treat the banner as permission for every kind of outdoor fire. Check the Fire Marshal’s current outdoor-burning guidance, local rules that apply to your location and conditions on the day. A status article is a dated check, not a substitute for the responsible authority.

The Fire Marshal’s office says its services cover the unincorporated areas of Kaufman County. Residents within a city should also check the appropriate city authority about rules that apply to their location.

Where to check and ask

The Fire Marshal page lists 469-376-4122 for office contact and appointments. Its outdoor-burn notification instructions give 469-595-8899 for activation and link the county permit portal. Read those instructions before arranging a controlled burn; making a notification does not by itself establish that an activity is lawful.

For an emergency, the page directs residents to call 9-1-1. For ordinary questions about the current banner, restrictions or the applicable process, use the Fire Marshal’s published office contact.

We will revise this article when a new verified county notice changes the status. The source link below is the place to confirm the county’s latest published information.
